We are the Lord's Hands and Feet Center
will now participate in
One Church, One Child.
We will provide
support for families that are fostering
What our program will do:
- Sponsor special events such as holiday parties for foster families in our community.
- • Sponsor activities for foster children
- • Mentor, coach, tutor and provide training for foster youth.
- • Hire teenagers and young adults who are aging out of foster care or who have aged out of the system.
- • Provide a space for foster parents and programs to use for meetings and events.
- • Provide meaningful benefits to employees who foster children such as providing eave time for bonding and flexible working hours for doctor visits and court hearings.
- • Provide items needed to support a kinship (relative) or foster placement, such as furniture, appliances and other household goods, or laptops and tablets for students.
- • Offer support to our local foster parents association or group
- Create support groups for parents, including some specifically centered around the strengths and struggles of families.
- Create a response team to circle around the family when a child comes home. This includes support systems such as a meal train set-up, assistance with rides and transportation, and practical logistics to help during transition time.
- Offer play groups for children who are in foster care so they can spend time with others who have a shared experience, culture and/or background.
- Create a small army of families who will show up for a foster child’s birthday, school plays, ball games or other special life events.
- Partner newer families with another foster family to walk closely with them through the ups and downs.
- Create a community to support each other through placement disruptions and attend court dates together.
- Create a Foster Care Closet to collect donated items for foster families receiving new children.
- Work with local DCFS offices to bring foster care certification training to your church or group location.
